About Carolyn

Carolyn Powers has been a community leader for 25-30 years. She is currently mayor Pro-Tem (3rd term) elected by the council. Her current City Council Committees are: Parks/ Public Property (Chair); Finance; and Transportation Policy. Past committee membership: Public Safety, Growth Management. By council election, Carolyn currently serves on the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council (KRCC) as alternate to the mayor. She is also on the KRCC executive committee.

Achievements:
• Previously obtained over $600,000 and recently $1,017,000 in federal highway funds for right-of-way acquisition and widening of Tremont Street.
• Secured funding for sidewalks along Pottery for student safety.
• Leader in design and construction of the current City Hall and Tremont Fire Station.
• Worked to enlarge the Port Orchard Library.
• Took the lead in having grass, trees, picnic tables on the waterfront (first city-owned downtown park).
• Worked closely with Rotary to develop Etta Turner Park at West Bay.
• No new taxes.
